Extraorindary Opportunity
As we step into the “Season of Giving,” we want to shine a light on a truly extraordinary opportunity unfolding right here in our community, one that has the power to shape the future of Mad River Glen for generations.
An 1,100-acre tract of land surrounding the ski area, encompassing the beloved 19th & 20th Hole backcountry terrain, a parcel north of Route 17, and land across from the Battleground condos, has received an offer from an outside buyer. Because the Mad River Glen Cooperative holds a Right of First Refusal, they were given the chance to match that offer. After two emergency board meetings and tremendous deliberation, the Co-Op has chosen to exercise that right.
To secure this land, Mad River Glen must match the $2,500,000 offer made by an anonymous family foundation managed by the Lyme Timber Company. As you can imagine, the Co-Op does not have this level of capital readily available, which means they need the community’s help, and quickly.
Protecting this land ensures that it remains accessible, cherished, and preserved as open recreational terrain; not just for today’s skiers and adventurers, but for every generation that follows. By coming together, we can help Mad River Glen acquire this once-in-a-lifetime resource and safeguard a defining piece of what makes our valley so special.
