How Secure Is Your Home?

Posted on 10/6/2014 by David M. Dion

When you decide to list your home for sale and hand over the keys to your real estate agent do you know how secure those keys will be held? Giving someone access to your home and all of your prized possessions is nothing to take lightly.

Mad River Valley Real Estate takes this responsibility very seriously. Recently our MLS provider, the Northern New England Real Estate Network (NNEREN) offered electronic lock boxes with Bluetooth technology to real estate agencies. MRVRE jumped at the opportunity to obtain a better and safer product for our Clients properties.

When an electronic lockbox is used to access your home we can determine the day, the time and the real estate agent who accessed the lockbox. As a result we have better intelligence on who entered your home.

Interestingly much of our competition recently decided to forgo this opportunity and instead use less secure combination lock boxes. We believe the decision was to avoid the higher cost to operate the new technology.

MRVRE feels this cost is a small investment to insure our Clients property is as secure as possible. Combination lock boxes are minimally secure. Some real estate offices routinely use the same combination to access all of their lockboxes. If the wrong person obtained the lock box code they would then have the ability to potentially access ALL of that agencys listed properties. Additionally, lock box codes are frequently shared freely. YIKES!

At Mad River Valley Real Estate the protection off our clients homes and possessions is of great importance to us. This is just one of many ways Mad River Valley Real Estate strives to provide the highest level of professional service in order for our clients and customers to make informed real estate and financial decisions.
